‘Nashville’ Actress Scout Taylor-Compton Talks Playing Gunnar’s Love Interest And Desire To Join ‘Gilmore Girls’ Revival
“Nashville” has a new woman in town. Season 4 introduced Scout Taylor-Compton as Erin, a free-spirited love interest for Gunnar (Sam Palladio). The problem is that Erin isn’t really interested in being Gunnar’s girlfriend. The actress talked to International Business Times about Erin’s “fun spirit” and her romantic relationship on the ABC drama.
According to Taylor-Compton, Erin isn’t quite as unattached to Gunnar as she might seem. Though she wants to keep their relationship very casual, she does have some feelings for him. “Erin is just a fun spirit, which can be mistaken at times,” Taylor-Compton explained. “I feel that she does actually care about Gunnar, but she may just be protecting herself from getting hurt, as any girl would.”
Audiences might see Erin show some emotion when Gunnar heads out on tour. When asked how the character will deal with his absence, the actress teased, “I think she may have a few tricks up her sleeve about Gunnar touring.” Could Erin be headed on tour with him? Taylor-Compton didn’t say, but she will continue to be involved in his life.
She’ll even meet Scarlett (Clare Bowen), Gunnar’s ex-girlfriend and current band mate, soon. “It's hard for anyone not to get along with Erin, even Scarlett! Erin has such a bright spirit,” the actress said. However, it’s hard to imagine all of Erin’s relationships will be drama free. After all, this is “Nashville.” Yet Taylor-Compton wasn’t giving away any hints.
While “Nashville” is typically filled with drama onscreen, it’s much more laid back behind the scenes. The 26-year-old also mentioned that the “Nashville” set is one of her favorites. “It's a big crew and you can tell everyone is just having such a great time,” she said. “I was welcomed with such big arms and I already feel like family!”
Of course, she had a different favorite set as a child. Taylor-Compton played Dean’s (Jared Padalecki) sister Clara on “Gilmore Girls” from 2001-2004, and she’d be thrilled to go back for the Netflix revival that is currently being planned.
“I completely freaked out when I heard about this!” she revealed. “That set was my favorite as a child! It was such a close family. I really truly hope I’m able to be part of the ‘Gilmore Girls’ revival! Bring Clara back!”
“Nashville” Season 4 airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. EST on ABC.
