A fan-favorite couple is in trouble. Though Rayna (Connie Britton) and Deacon (Charles Esten) managed to quickly solve their parental disagreements on the last episode of “Nashville,” there is more trouble on the way. After seeing a text message from Markus (Riley Smith), Deacon looked a little worried. That worry might become full-blown jealousy in Season 4, episode 9 of the ABC drama, titled “Three’s a Crowd.”

According to the synopsis, Markus will quickly start frustrating Rayna again. He “causes trouble for her when he scraps a song on his new album one week before its release.” That kind of sounds typical, but Rayna’s fiancé might have some issues with her new artist.

“Is Deacon part of the solution or the problem?” the synopsis asks. The summary doesn’t tease how Deacon is involved, but the promo video makes it clear that the guitarist questions Markus’ motives after they start working together. “He wants to sleep with you,” Deacon tells Rayna.

Rayna isn’t the only one with drama. Colt (Keean Johnson) is still on tour with his father Luke (Will Chase). The singer “attempts to reconcile” with his son, but it’s clear that Colt has some deep issues. It might take some more time for him to get past everything that’s happened.

Meanwhile, Scarlett (Clare Bowen) will return to Nashville to see her boyfriend. She “surprises Caleb [Nick Jandl] back in Nashville when she gets time off on her tour,” the synopsis reveals. The two were struggling with their long distance relationship in episode 8, but will a visit make their relationship stronger?

Due to Thanksgiving, viewers will have to wait an extra week for this installment. “Nashville” Season 4, episode 9 airs Wednesday, Dec. 2, at 10 p.m. EST on ABC.
