Naya Rivera’s Son Josey Turns 6; Dad Ryan Dorsey Celebrates His Birthday [Photos]
Ryan Dorsey’s son Josey with the late “Glee” star Naya Rivera turned 6 on Sept. 17 and the proud dad marked the occasion by posting adorable pictures on his Instagram account Monday.
In one photo, Josey holds up six fingers as he smiles happily before the camera.
In another photo, the boy could be seen celebrating his Batman-themed birthday in an outdoor setting which includes a man in a caped costume.
The baby boy @joseydorsey is 6!! Two thousand one hundred ninety+ days old. My sweet, smart, spectacular boy, every day is a gift, I love you more every day and am so proud to call you my son,” Dorsey captioned his post.
Josey’s birthday comes a few weeks after he started kindergarten.
Dorsey also celebrated this milestone by posting a gallery of photos showing the father and son bonding in an amusement park.
In one photo, Josey posed in a red sweater and face mask. Dorsey wrote, “#TBT (lol) The 1st Day of Kindergarten was a roller coaster to remember.”
The proud dad also included a short clip of him and Josey enjoying a roller coaster ride.
Naya’s body was recovered five days after she went missing on a boat trip with Josey in California’s Lake Piru in July 2020. Josey was only four at the time.
Authorities shared that before the star died, she must have mustered enough energy to push Josey back into the boat for safety as the boat started drifting.
Just before the first-year death anniversary of Naya, her father George Rivera told ET how she matured as a person when she became a mom.
"He really became everything for her," he said, adding: "Her focus was really on him and he was growing up as she was becoming a mother, she really leaned into that, really leaned into that and the word I want to use is maturity. She became very mature as a person and really receptive to other people's feelings.”
George also said that Josey remembers his mother frequently in their conversations.
"He says, 'Oh, I used to do this with Mommy. Oh, I remember Mommy used to do this. It might be a cup out of the cupboard, it might be a snack and we go, 'Yeah, remember when you did that?' We don't back off of that, we just keep reinforcing his values and our values,” George shared.
