It was a rough year for NBC, with the network cancelling a whopping nine shows in 2012. NBC viewers have lost Are You There, Chelsea? Awake, Bent, Chuck, Free Agents, Harry's Law, The Playboy Club, Prime Suspect, and The Firm. While the network has dropped some fan favorites, their lineup for fall 2012 looks pretty promising.

1600 Penn

Starring Jenna Elfman and Bill Pullman, 1600 Penn follows an ordinary family, with a father that just happens to be the President of the United States. The show is bound to be funny with Josh Gad of Book of Mormon's writing and executive producing with Modern Family's Jason Winer.

Animal Practice

Keeping up with the comedies, NBC has also added Animal Practice to the fall lineup. The show stars Weeds star Justin Kirk as a veterinarian, who according to TV Guide, loves animals but hates their owners.

Chicago Fire

Things are going to heat up on NBC with the new drama Chicago Fire. As the title suggests, the show follows the lives of the men and women that work at the Chicago Fire Department. The new show stars Lady Gaga's former flame (and Vampire Diaries heart throb) Taylor Kinney, along with former House star Jesse Spencer.

Do No Harm

You'd think the Steven Pasquale, one of the star's of FX's retired series Rescue Me would be the perfect fit for Chicago Fire, but Pasquale stars as a neurosurgeon in Do No Harm. Don't believe this to be your average doctor show though. Do No Harm is about a neurosurgeon who has a dangerous alter-ego. The new show also stars former CSI: Miami actress Alana De La Garza.

Go On

Matthew Perry is back on the small screen in the new series Go On. The series follows a sportscaster, played by Perry, who tries to move forward with his life after suffering from a loss. With help from a mandatory group therapy, the show could either be a tear jerker or a riot to watch.

Guys With Kids

Jimmy Fallon will be executive-producing this new comedy about the joys of parenting. Starring Jesse Bradford, Anthony Anderson and Zach Cregger, expect a lot of hilarious moments as these dad's must learn to grow up too.

Infamous

This new NBC show screams drama. Starring Meagan Good, Infamous is about a cop who returns to her wealthy family as a maid to go undercover to solve a murder. The show also stars Tate Donovan, Victor Garber and Neil Jackson.

Next Caller

Comedian Dane Cook has found success on the big screen, but will he find it on the small screen? Cook stars as an alpha male DJ who clashes with his new feminist co-host, played by Collete Wolfe. Arrested Development alum Jeffrey Tambor will guest star in the new series.

The New Normal

Justin Bartha of The Hangover fame will be starring in this new comedy about a gay couple who seek a surrogate to start a family. The series was co-written by Glee's Ryan Murphy and Allison Adler.

Revolution

From TV Guide's description of Revolution we might have an apoca-drama on our hands. The series shows a world where all forms of energy have just vanished, and how people must try to survive.

Save Me

Anne Heche will star as a God channeling woman in this new drama. After an accident occurs, Heche believes she is a guide for God.
