‘NCIS’
McGee (Sean Murray) managed to escape the rebel prison in “NCIS” Season 15, episode 1. CBS

“NCIS” Season 15 premiered on Tuesday night and saw Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and McGee (Sean Murray) still locked up in a rebel prison in Paraguay.

It’s been two months since they got separated from their team, and it seemed as though they wouldn’t manage to make it out alive. They eventually survived, but it was obvious that they will forever be scarred from their recent experience in episode 1, titled “House Divided.”

After the premiere episode aired on CBS, Murray spoke with Entertainment Tonight about Gibbs and McGee’s stronger connection after being trapped in prison for quite some time.

“It absolutely has brought them closer and we reflect on that as we go on. There are things placed here and there; there are reminders. It’s not just, ‘Oh, OK that happened and we’re all good. We’re back to normal.’ That’s a scarring thing and there are things that both characters take from it that are troublesome and hard to deal with. You’ll see some of that as the season goes,” he explained.

While at the rebel prison, Gibbs and McGee fought with each other, but it was later on revealed that it was just an act. Murray is happy with how fans reacted to the scene, especially since they thought the two male characters were genuinely fighting.

Meanwhile, McGee and his wife are also expecting a child together, so being in prison left him feeling very desperate and defeated. According to the actor, McGee and his wife, Delilah (Margo Harshman), will be preparing for the arrival of their baby in the upcoming episodes.

Other than the baby’s arrival, Murray and his co-stars are also excited for fans to see newcomer Maria Bello giving life to her character starting episode 4. “Her character is a really interesting psychologist profiler and McGee actually gets to do some work with her early on when she first joins the agency,” he said.

In July, TV Line reported that Bello’s yet-to-be-named character will serve as Gibbs’ “frenemy.” The character was also described as a “positive force, mischievous and at times acerbic.”

“NCIS” Season 15 airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EDT on CBS.
