Nick Jonas Reunites With ‘Jumanji’ Cast, Addresses Jennifer Lopez’s ‘Bye Bye Birdie’ Casting Suggestion
Nick Jonas reunited with his “Jumanji” co-stars early this week for CinemaCon following his vacation in Europe. The 24-year-old singer-actor also responded to Jennifer Lopez’s suggestion of him playing Conrad Birdie for NBC’s live musical remake of the 1963 movie.
On Monday, Jonas took to Instagram to share to his fans a snap of him and his co-actors for the upcoming remake of “Jumanji.” In the photo, the former Jonas Brothers member is seen smiling for the camera alongside Karen Gillan, Jack Black and Dwayne Johnson. The four actors and comedian Kevin Hart are the main cast of the upcoming movie. Unfortunately, Hart wasn’t able to attend the Los Angeles event, but Jonas mentioned him in the post.
At the convention, Jonas opened up to E! News about Lopez’s suggestion that he should be part of NBC’s live adaptation of “Bye Bye Birdie.” “I don’t know if it’s going to happen or not,” the former Disney actor said. “I love Jen, but we’ll see. I’m not sure. It could happen.” Jonas also admitted that he and Lopez had talked about the project, but he did not reveal details about the conversation that transpired between them.

Jonas’ statement comes after J. Lo appeared on “Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen” early this month, saying that Jonas was among the actors who popped up in the list of prospects to play the heartthrob Conrad in the remake. Should Jonas pursue this project, this wouldn’t be the first time that he be will doing live musical theater. He has appeared in the Broadway shows of “Les Miserables,” “Annie Get Your Gun,” “Beauty and the Beast” and the 2012 revival of “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.”
Meanwhile, Jonas took some time off from his busy schedule a week ago to enjoy a vacation in Europe. The “Levels” crooner vacationed in the Netherlands and Italy with a couple of his closest friends, according to Just Jared. When it was time for him to end his getaway, Jonas took to Twitter to reveal to his fans that he’s about “to get back to work” after traveling around Europe.
“Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” is slated for release on Dec. 22.
