Nicki Minaj Explains Why Meek Mill Keeps Giving Her Diamond Rings, Responds To Engagement Rumors

There's a perfectly good explanation behind Nicki Minaj's gorgeous diamond rings, gifted to her by her rapper boyfriend Meek Mill. As previously reported, the "Anaconda" rapper took to Instagram Thursday to flaunt a massive diamond sparkler the "All Eyes On You" rapper gave for her birthday on Dec. 8.

The ring led to rumors the pair was engaged, but Minaj told Billboard -- in an interview conducted before she got the gift -- that the rings don't mean they are headed down the aisle anytime soon.

"He and I are not engaged," Minaj said, explaining, "He said he would like to give me three rings before we get married."

The one Minaj flaunted Thursday on social media (photo above) is the second ring he's given her. The first one -- a heart shaped yellow diamond ring -- she received in April 2014 as a belated birthday gift.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen with he and I," she continued. "I just know right now we are really, really enjoying each other’s company."

During her interview, Minaj also revealed that she and Mill have called on power couple Beyoncé and Jay Z for relationship advice.

In September, the "Feeling Myself" rapper opened up about her romance, telling GQ in a joint interview with Mill that she knew she wanted to date him the same day he went to prison for violating his probation. Mill and Minaj confirmed their romance February 2015, shortly after he was released.

"In terms of taking him seriously and going to another level with him: when he went to jail I was left in a house by myself and it was just a tough time for me and it happened to be a tough time for him as well," she said referring to her split from Safaree Samuels.

She added, "When I heard he went to jail I was really disappointed, I reached out to his people like, 'Yo, let him know I'm praying for him to come home.' And they told him, and he asked them to call me for him… I remember sitting on my balcony at my house and just being on the phone with him until it started getting dark outside. And I was just like, 'Yo, I'm in trouble.'"
