Is Nicki Minaj Releasing New Music? Rapper Shares ‘High Off Life’ Tweet
Although Nicki Minaj has a lot of things going with both her career and her personal life, the rapper managed to find some time to go on Twitter and stir the pot just enough to get fans into a frenzy over potential new music.
On Friday, Minaj shared a tweet letting fans know she was feeling fabulous. “High off life,” she tweeted, along with a unicorn emoji.
While the “Rake It Up” artist didn’t specify what was putting her in such a great mood, fans believed new music was the reason why she was feeling so great.
“Does this mean the uzi collab dropping tomorrow?” one fan curious fan asked.
One fan theorized that Minaj revealed a clue about her upcoming album. “Wait... high off life is the name of the album,” the individual tweeted.
Meanwhile, one fan was ready for Minaj to just release her album already. “Quick thought let’s get high off these album tracks where’s the link sis?”
Minaj’s fans quickly began to rally behind one another, pushing for the star to drop her album. “Wish we were getting high off the lyrics and beats of your new album atm #NM4,” another fan wrote.
Minaj’s tweet about being in great spirits comes after opening arguments in her brother, Jelani Maraj’s, child rape trial, which began on Thursday,
According to TMZ, Minaj is expected to take the stand and testify that the mother of the alleged victim attempted to extort her. The publication reported that the woman wanted the “No Frauds” rapper to pay her $25 million.
Minaj will act as a star witness during the trial, in which her brother is accused of raping the daughter of his ex-wife, Jacqueline Robinson, in 2015. According to Maraj’s lawyer, David Schwartz, Robinson forced the child to lie to authorities in order to receive hush money from her ex’s sister.
After reporting the alleged incident to the police, the woman told Minaj that she could “make the charges go away for $25 million.” Schwartz insisted that the only reason Robinson married Maraj was so she could extort Minaj.
“Jackie became obsessed with Nicki Minaj — getting her hands on her money,” Schwartz said during the trial.
The lawyer went on to explain that Robinson targeted Maraj, “trying to get him to marry her, and then just four months after they were married, we have this.”
Not long after Robinson and Maraj were married, the then 11-year-old told authorities her new stepfather was raping her, and the girl’s brother, who was 8 years old at the time, shared details of the abuse with child services.
At the time, the child stated that his stepfather brutally beat him, after he walked in on him sexually abusing his older sister. Authorities later found the girl’s pajama pants, which also had traces of Maraj’s DNA. However, his attorney believes Robinson put his DNA on the pants in order to frame him.
Despite the controversy surrounding her brother, Minaj has stuck by his side. Although the trial has begun, it is unclear when the rapper is scheduled to take the stand.
