Nikki Bella Reveals Ex John Cena Called Her After She Gave Birth: ‘Short And Sweet’

There’s no bad blood between former lovers John Cena and Nikki Bella as he reached out to her and twin Brie Bella after they gave birth in July and August, respectively.

Nikki revealed that things remain cordial between her and the wrestler-turned-actor even though both of them have moved on. Cena recently tied the knot with Shay Shariatzadeh, while the “Total Bellas” star is engaged to Artem Chigvintsev.

“John and I will be tied forever. I get that, like, we had a public relationship on a reality show for six years. All I’ve ever wanted was for him to be happy,” Nikki told Us Weekly.

“So, it makes me happy when I see that and, like, him kicking butt in the movie world and all that stuff. I love that!” she added.

Nikki went on to reveal that Cena reached out to her and Brie after they gave birth a few months ago. The “Dancing with the Stars” alum and Chigvintsev’s first child, son Matteo, arrived just a day before Brie and husband Bryan Danielson welcomed their second child, also a boy.

“So with the baby, he reached out to Brie and I both. We haven’t had an individual conversation in gosh, I don’t know how long, but it was very short and sweet!” Nikki said.

This was a far cry from their previous bitter separation. Nikki and Cena called it quits in 2018 after six years of dating.

They broke off their engagement in April of that year, only a few weeks before they were due to exchange vows. Cena tried to win Nikki back and even pleaded publicly, saying that he didn’t want anyone else but her.

“I love Nicole, and I’m really trying to support her in her trying to find whatever it was that made this fall apart in the first place. I don’t have any other hopes than that one day maybe we can work it out,” Cena said at the time.

However, Nikki officially ended their relationship a few months later, explaining in a statement that she and Cena tried to work things out but to no avail. Although she called her ex-fiancé a “wonderful man,” she said that calling it quits was “what’s best for me.”
