Nikki Reed Says She's Ready To Have A Baby, But Only After 'The Vampire Diaries' Wraps

Nikki Reed is ready to have a child with her husband, Ian Somerhalder, but there’s a catch.

Just recently, the actress told E! News that she and Somerhalder are more than excited to bring a baby into the world, but it’s been difficult since the latter is still filming for “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8. Somerhalder, who is quite emotional over the upcoming cancellation of the hit The CW series, is excited about what’s in store for him and Reed.

“You develop these family dynamics here and in this particular situation, once this does end we yell ‘cut’ on the last scene on the last set up of the last episode, what will be the most difficult is when the family breaks up… And starting a new family,” he said.

Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time that Reed and Somerhalder talked about their plans to become parents. Earlier this year, the latter spoke with the same publication while at Kiehl’s Earth Day event. When asked if they were already trying to get pregnant at the time, Somerhalder said, “I’m sure it’s in the cards.”

The actor added that he wants their child to have the same love and passion for animals and the environment just like their parents, saying, “One would hope that anyone with this passion… would instill in their own children a very similar ideology.”

Somerhalder and Reed are actively involved in promoting animal and environmental rights across the globe. On their respective Instagram accounts, the two have been regularly uploading photos and information about animal care and adoption, as well as the best ways to take care of the environment. Just recently, Reed also shared an adorable photo of her husband taking a picture of their German Shepherd.
