Nina Dobrev Is Rocking A New Haircut And Here’s Why
“The Vampire Diaries” alum Nina Dobrev has a short, new hairdo and it’s already had its red carpet debut.
“World meet Bob. Bob... world,” Dobrev wrote Thursday on Instagram along with a photo of her new haircut, which she debuted at Wednesday’s “Flatliners” premiere in Los Angeles.
She followed up the first photo with another one later on Thursday on Twitter.
“New role, new look,” she posted to Twitter with a side-view of her new look. “A #BangingBob with a #FrenchFringe for my French movie.”
She also tagged her hairtstylist, Riawna Capri, in the tweet. Capri is a co-owner the celebrity-loved Nine Zero One salon in California. Her bio on the salon’s website says she specializes in “short textured hair cuts,” which clearly made her a perfect fit to transform Dobrev’s hair into this new bobbed look.
After working on her hair, Capri posted the new look to her Instagram to explain a bit more about how she came up with the cut design and why it’s perfect for what Dobrev has coming up.
“#BangingBob with #FrenchFringe for @Nina’s new movie ‘Lucky Day,’” she wrote. “We’re calling it the #Nob (Nina-Bob) She plays CHLOE a Parisian artist, so we concocted this chic European look for her character. Bye Bye #DObrev (for now) This photo is life @adambreuchaud killed it on this #makeup look Simply #flawless!!! #FlatlinersMovie #Premiere.”
As if there was any doubt that it took a lot of people to make a celebrity’s red carpet look work, Capri just gave us all a reminder. While she cut Dobrev’s hair ahead of the premiere, she had to continue to do touch-ups right beforehand, while Adam Breuchaud worked on her make-up.
And there was also apparently another set of hands helping Dobrev stay hydrated, according to Breuchaud’s fabulous behind-the-scenes photo.
All of this last-minute work was for the premiere of Dobrev’s new sci-fi film “Flatliners,” which opens in theaters Friday and also stars Ellen Page, Diego Luna, Kiersey Clemmons and Kiefer Sutherland.
But the haircut in general was more for what project Dobrev is currently working, which is a movie called “Lucy Day.” She’s shooting the thriller in Toronto and plays Chloe, a French-speaking artist. That’s where the cute, French-looking bob comes in, of course. Besides being an artist, though, there’s a bit more to Dobrev’s character. She’s the wife of the main character, an ex-con named Red who was recently released from prison and who is trying to thwart the plans of killer who’s set his sights on him and his family. Speaking of family, that doesn’t just entail Dobrev’s Chloe, but their child, too.
Once Dobrev wraps up with this film, she’ll begin production on yet another. While it still has “day” in the title, that’s where the similarities end. “Dog Days,” the full name of the film, is an ensemble comedy that also stars Adam Pally and Vanessa Hudgens. The movie revolves around interconnected stories of people brought together by their dogs. Dobrev will play the character of “Good Day Seattle” host Elizabeth. Her character’s pet helps her through life and work problems, with the unwanted advances of a colleague only being one of them.
