A North Carolina mother was allegedly stabbed to death by her boyfriend at their home. The incident was reportedly witnessed by the woman's three children, who ran to their neighbor's house for help.
Tiara Dzikowski, 34, was stabbed multiple times by her boyfriend Alexander Dzikowski, 33, at their home in Battleboro. Tiara has four children, between the ages of 3 months and 12 years.
The incident happened around 10.15 a.m. ET on Sunday, reported ABC news. Nash County police officers were informed in an emergency call about a domestic disturbance at the address, and responded to the report of a woman found unconscious with several stab wounds.
“While en-route, deputies were advised that the children of the residence had gone next door to a neighbor’s house and stated that the victim had been stabbed by the suspect,” Nash County sheriff’s office said in a statement.
The victim did not survive the attack and was pronounced dead at the scene. She succumbed to the multiple injuries before the law enforcement officials reached the scene.
The police officers said the victim's boyfriend was taken into custody, without any incident, and charged with first-degree murder.
Alexander was taken to UNC Nash Hospital for treating minor injuries that he had sustained during the attack and was later shifted to an undisclosed medical facility.
The police have not identified the motive behind the crime.
Eddie Moore of the Nash County Sheriff's Office said even though the cause of the stabbing was not known, there was "some kind of argument" before the fatal incident, reported news outlet The People. The police confirmed the investigation was ongoing.
“My heart is heavy today. My mini-me, Tiara, was killed by her husband yesterday morning. All prayer warriors please pray for me and the family so we can have the strength to weather this storm,” Talitha Jackson, the victim’s mother wrote on her Facebook page.
According to a GoFundMe page set up in support of Tiara's four children, they will be relocated from North Carolina to Maryland.
“Tiara lost her life to domestic violence. She loved her children and her family,” a description on the page read.
