  • Twitter adds ETH wallets for tipping
  • Twitter tipping now supports payment services Barter, Paga and Paytm
  • Bitcoin tips were added in September last year

Social media platform Twitter added Ethereum wallet addresses to its native tipping feature for both iOS and Android users. This comes in addition to the Bitcoin tipping option added last year.

A Twitter spokesperson said that the feature is available for all users who agree to the company's tipping policy. Users can tip with ETH and ERC-20 tokens (including Ethereum-based stablecoins).

Users can now add their Ethereum wallets to the product as well. As of now, the feature is available on mobile only.

"We're continuing to expand ways to get paid on Twitter, which includes more choices for creators and fans who want to use crypto," Johnny Winston, lead product manager of creator monetization at Twitter, told CoinDesk.

The company confirmed that the tipping feature also now supports payment services Barter, Paga and Paytm, which would help people in Nigeria, Ghana and India use the tipping feature.

Last September Twitter announced the rollout its tipping feature with payment options including cryptos.

"People already drop links to their payment profiles in their bios and tweets. Tips make this easier to do, offering one fixed spot, right on your profile, where you can link to your Cash App, Patreon, Venmo and other platforms where people can support you," the blog read.

Twitter's crypto-positive stance was also evident when the company announced its NFT (non-fungible tokens) profile picture feature last month that allowed users to show off their NFTs.
