Nubia Red Magic 3: Smartphone With Cooling Fans, 8K Camera Revealed
Gaming phones are not new to the market. Different companies such as Asus and Razer have released their own smartphone models designed to appeal to the gaming public. One Chinese company, however, released what could be the most powerful gaming phone available to date.
Chinese smartphone company Nubia, popular for its gaming smartphones and the Alpha wearable phone, has released its latest entry into the gaming devices market: the Red Magic 3. This is a smartphone that boasts top-tier specs and a cooling system previously seen only in desktop and laptop computers, Engadget reported.
Gaming systems often see temperature levels rise with is. To handle this problem, Nubia has fitted the Red Magic 3 with an internal cooling fan and liquid cooling system to manage temperature spikes during intense gameplay.
Nubia obviously focused on designing the Red Magic 3’s cooling system for continuous gameplay. It has an IP55 rating and an isolated chamber, which will keep dust and liquids out and away from its precious innards. What’s more, the internal fan, despite having the capacity to reach speeds of up to 14,000 rpm, is said to run quietly.
The Red Magic 3 features a 6.65-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, XDA Developers reported. It has front-facing speakers with Dolby DTS:X surround sound, and a triple mic-noise cancellation feature.
Inside, this phone is a beast. It is powered by a Snapdragon 855 processor, and will come with either 6/8/12GB LPDDR4 RAM, and up to 256GB onboard storage. It will have a standard 3.5mm stereo headphone jack perfect for those who invested in gaming headsets, and will have a large 5,000 mAh battery with 30W fast charging.
The specs don’t end there. This monster is said to feature a single rear-mounted 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor. While this camera doesn’t have any optical stabilisation feature, it does allows for 8K video recording, and also has a slow motion mode up to 1,920 fps.
According to the reveal video, the Red Magic 3 will feature shoulder buttons perfect for those FPS games, and as a bonus, the rear fingerprint scanner can also be programmed for use as an added button, perfect for trigger-happy players.
Nubia will start selling the Red Magic 3 in China on May 3 with prices ranging from 2,899 yuan (about $430) for the base model (6GB RAM + 64GB storage) to 4,299 yuan (about $640) for the maxed-out version (12GB RAM + 256GB storage). It will come to the U.S., U.K., Canada and Europe sometime later next month.
