OnePlus 3 Gets Android 7.0 Nougat-Based Update OxygenOS 4.0.1 With Bug Fixes, New Notifications Design
Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus is rolling out a new update for its latest flagship device, the OnePlus 3. Since the smartphone has already been upgraded to the Android 7.0 Nougat software, the new update is based on the latest version of Google's mobile OS.
On the OnePlus forums page, OxygenOS staff member Tony L. announced on Saturday that an OTA update has arrived for the OnePlus 3. He also revealed that the rollout of OxygenOS 4.0.1 is going to be incremental, but he didn’t reveal the reason why this is so. Tony simply noted that only a small percentage of OnePlus 3 owners are getting update notifications this weekend and a broader release of the update is expected to happen in a few days.
For the Android Nougat changes, users can expect to see new notifications design and a new Settings menu design. Multi-window view has also been added to the flagship handset, along with the notification direct reply feature and the custom DPI support. The status bar has been upgraded with more icon options as well. The staff member did not forget to mention the improved shelf customization, increased system stability and updated APN settings.
Aside from bringing something new to the table, OxygenOS 4.0.1 also addresses a couple of known issues in the software of the device. For example, the bug that’s causing proximity sensor errors during calls has been quashed, as per PhoneArena. The problem with apps not downloading properly from the Play Store has also been singled out in Tony’s update.
When apps do not download from Google’s Play Store, the OnePlus dev suggests users should check Google’s troubleshooting steps or try switching on the Battery Saving Mode as well as resetting the Play Store app preferences. For users who are complaining about downloading issues while connected to Data Roaming access, Tony said this is a known Google issue.
For other cases like fluctuating WiFi connection and mobile data problems, Tony stated in his post that owners should directly send him a private message for faster and more reliable feedback. For APN-related mobile data issues, the OxygenOS developer wrote that users should alter the APN settings and try all the options there as much as possible.
