OnePlus 5 Renders Show Dual-Camera Setup, Midnight Black Color
The OnePlus 5 will be OnePlus’s “flagship killer” for 2017, and a first look at the device has already surfaced online. Purported renders of the upcoming smartphone show that it will come with dual cameras on the back.
The renders of the OnePlus 5 were shared by India Today Tech. The site claims that the renders were based on what sources “who have seen the phone and have possibly worked on the OnePlus 5” have described. This could mean that the design seen in the renders may not be the final look of the handset when it’s officially announced.
The first thing that’s really nice about the OnePlus 5 render is that it comes with the “midnight black” color option, which was first introduced on the OnePlus 3T last month. OnePlus may have simply seen the positive response that the color option received, and it really seems like a logical choice to make it more widely available for its new flagship.
The biggest thing that’s on the OnePlus 5 has to be the dual-camera module. Previous rumors have suggested that the rear camera will have a 23MP sensor. What’s now left unclear is whether both of the camera sensors will come with the same megapixel count.
As for materials used to build the device, the OnePlus 5 appears to still have a metal body construction similar to the 3 and the 3T, as pointed out by GSM Arena. The antenna lines on the upper part seem to have been removed, while the antenna lines on the bottom part are barely visible, making the back of the device look a lot stealthier.
The render also suggests that the fingerprint scanner will still be located on the front. Previous rumors suggested that the OnePlus 5 will come with an edge-to-edge dual-curved 5.5-inch display. If the front of the device is anywhere near the design of the Samsung Galaxy S8, it’s possible that OnePlus is embedding its fingerprint scanner underneath the display. Another possibility is that the OnePlus 5 may just have a smaller bottom bezel to house the fingerprint sensor.
As for internals, the OnePlus 5 is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor with 6GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. OnePlus is expected to officially reveal its 2017 “flagship killer” this coming June.
