‘Orange Is The New Black’ Season 5: [SPOILER] Dies In Episode 13 Finale

“Orange Is the New Black” Season 5 recently saw the death of another character in the finale.

In episode 13 of the Netflix prison drama, Desi Piscatella (Brad William Henke) was killed. But unlike Poussey (Samira Wiley), he is not a well-loved character and likely will not be missed. Piscatella died after Red (Kate Mulgrew) released him from captivity. When he finally went out, he was mistakenly shot by a trigger-happy member of the SWAT team who thought that he was one of the inmates.

Prior to his death, Piscatella first made the lives of some of the inmates a living hell. He previously took Red and her family prison in episode 9. He also ripped the hair on Red’s scalp using a knife, which caused a lot of pain on the beloved mother of the group. In addition, Piscatella broke Alex’s (Laura Prepon) arm just to prove to her that he’s the boss. He was also instrumental in Poussey’s death because he was the one who incited the violent protest that led to the character’s demise.

Meanwhile, TVLine is speculating on the possibility of “Orange Is the New Black” going on a major reset for Season 6. In the final scene of Season 5, the inmates at Litchfield prison were removed from their cells and were transported to different locations.

Episode 13 also featured a cliffhanger where Piper (Taylor Schilling) and Alex, who just got engaged, stood with their friends while waiting if they could make it out alive. Right before the installment ended, a smoke bomb went off, leaving fans to speculate whether or not they survived.

In other news, Netflix also picked up “Orange Is the New Black” for Season 7. Showrunner Jenji Kohan made the announcement (via Variety) earlier this year before Season 5 premiered.
