‘Orphan Black’ Season 3 Spoilers: Synopsis Released For 2015 Premiere; Why Is Rachel Missing?
BBC America announced that the “Orphan Black” clones will be back soon. "Orphan Black" Season 3 just started filming in Canada, but the clone club won’t get to see the new episodes until spring 2015, TV Line reports. However, the network released a spoiler-filled synopsis to give fans something to mull over for the next few months.
According to the synopsis, the Project Castor clones will be a big problem. “Just when they thought they knew their enemies and allies, season three reveals our clones are more vulnerable than ever before. Highly trained, identical male-soldiers raise more questions than answers,” the synopsis states.
At the end of “Orphan Black” Season 2, Marian (Michelle Forbes) revealed that Sarah (Tatiana Maslany) was a Project Leda clone, while Marc (Ari Millen) was a Project Castor clone. DYAD ran Project Leda’s female clone project while the military was running Project Castor’s male clone project. It looks like Marian couldn’t give Sarah much more than that because she is going to have plenty of questions in Season 3. BBC America was kind enough to spell out all of these questions in the synopsis, just in case fans weren’t consumed by them all summer: “Who are these new clones? Who created them? And more importantly, why do they exist?”
The Season 3 synopsis also revealed which clones can be expected onscreen next season. “Sarah, Cosima, Alison and Helena are stronger together than they are apart, but this season will put that bond to the test. Will they forge towards their truth, or fall at the feet of those who seek to control them?” Rachel is missing from that list. Granted, Rachel was one of the people at DYAD trying to control the clones, so she isn’t exactly on the same mission. She’s also probably recovering from that pencil that the other clones shoved in her eye and plotting her revenge. Still, Rachel’s name was mysteriously missing from Tatiana Maslany’s name card at the table read for Season 3. Could the evil clone have disappeared for good?
While the synopsis ends there, the press release also noted the Ari Millen will return to his role as the Project Castor clones, and Dylan Bruce will return as Paul after being absent for a large portion of Season 2. Paul will be busy as an “army officer working for secret forces in the clone world.” Fans will also be excited to know that Evelyne Brochu will reprise her role as Cosima’s girlfriend Delphine, despite being shipped to Germany at the end of last season. Also returning to the cast is Jordan Gavaris as Felix, Maria Doyle Kennedy as Mrs. S, Kristian Bruun as Donnie, Kevin Hanchard as Art, Michiel Huisman as Cal, Skyler Wexler as Kira and Zoé De Grand Maison as Gracie.
