KEY POINTS

  • Gal Gadot, Timothée Chalamet among the presenters at this year's Oscars
  • Mindy Kaling, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Zazie Beetz will also present trophies
  • Rami Malek, Regina King, Olivia Colman, and Mahershala Ali have already been announced as presenters

The awards season is coming to an end and this year’s biggest awards night – The Academy Awards – is set to take place in less than ten days. After unveiling the first batch of presenters last week, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has unveiled the next batch of presenters for the star-studded event .

According to the organization, the second batch of Oscar presenters includes the likes of Gal Gadot, Timothée Chalamet, Will Ferrell, and three-time Oscar nominee Mark Ruffalo. The other notable names on the list are Lin-Manuel Miranda, Kristen Wiig, Mindy Kaling, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Anthony Ramos, Zazie Beetz, and Kelly Marie Tran.

Lynette Howell Taylor and Stephanie Allen, producers of this year’s ceremony, are quite excited to have such talented people on-board to present trophies to their fellow actors and each one of them brings “unique” energy to the stage.

“We are excited to welcome these talented artists to help celebrate this year's movies. Each brings their unique energy and appeal to our global audience,” Taylor and Allen said.

The news comes after it was announced that last year’s winners Rami Malek, Olivia Colman, Regina King, and Mahershala Ali will alo be presenting the awards this year. Malek was named Best Actor for his portrayal of iconic vocalist Freddie Mercury in “Bohemian Rhapsody” while Colman was adjudged Best Actress for her stellar work in “The Favorite.”

Mahershala Ali (“Green Book”) and Regina King (“If Beale Street Could Talk”) won the Supporting Actor trophies.

The other big announcement that was made is that the Academy will pay tribute to Kobe Bryant, who won an Oscar in 2018 for the autobiographical movie “Dear Basketball,” during the ceremony.

This year’s show will once again be conducted without a host. Speaking with the Hollywood Reporter, the head of ABC Entertainment Karey Burke revealed that the star-studded night will not have a traditional host for the second year in a row because last year’s ceremony saw the viewership go up by 11.5 percent and she is not taking any chances this time, too.

Talking about the nominations, Todd Phillips’ blockbuster hit “Joker” is leading the pack with a staggering 11 nods, including Best Picture. Joaquin Phoenix will be up for the Best Actor trophy and will compete against the likes of Adam Driver (“Marriage Story”), Antonio Banderas (“Pain And Glory”), Jonathan Pryce (“The Two Popes”) and Leonardo DiCaprio (“Once Upon A Time In Hollywood”).

Martin Scorsese’s “The Irishman,” Sam Mendes’ “1917” and Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood” have all received 10 nods each. Meanwhile, “Little Women” (Greta Gerwig), “Marriage Story” (Noah Baumbach), “Parasite” (Bong Joon-Ho), and “Jojo Rabbit” (Taika Waititi) each garnered six noms.

Scarlett Johansson ("Marriage Story"), Saoirse Ronan ("Little Women"), Cynthia Erivo ("Harriet"), Charlize Theron ("Bombshell"), and Renee Zellweger ("Judy") will battle it out in the Best Actress category.

The 92nd Annual Academy Awards will take place on Feb. 9 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
