Paris Jackson Hospitalized After Possible Suicide Attempt
UPDATE: Angel Howansky, the Jackson family's longtime spokesperson, and Paris Jackson's mother, Debbie Rowe, confirmed the news on Wednesday. Rowe, 54, told Entertainment Tonight that her daughter has had "a lot going on [lately]." A lawyer for Jackson's grandmother, Katherine Jackson, told the Daily News, ""She's suffered with the loss of her father. But we don't know what she was exposed to that precipitated this."
Paris Jackson, the teenage daughter of the late King of Pop, was reportedly rushed to a Los Angeles hospital early Wednesday morning after a suicide attempt. The 15-year-old was taken to a hospital in an ambulance after a caller reported that she had cut her wrists, TMZ reported.
According to the report, the emergency call was placed at 1:27 a.m. The person who placed the 911 call has not been identified, but the report added that the caller told police that there might also have been a drug overdose. The gossip site reported that sources said Jackson was “doing OK.”
Jackson, who has previously shared ambitions of becoming a heart surgeon, recently celebrated her 15th birthday with her formerly estranged mother, Debbie Rowe. Tabloids snapped photographs of the duo again shortly after Jackson’s birthday, noting that it marked the first time since Jackson and Rowe had been publicly seen together since Jackson was a very young child.
The news comes just days after a video tutorial Jackson made on how to get her smoky-eye makeup look was uploaded onto YouTube. Jackson later wrote on Twitter that she hadn’t uploaded the video and wasn’t sure how it had been circulated. “just a heads up to those who have seen the makeup video , i really don't know how that got onto youtube haha i actually don't have a account [sic]” Jackson tweeted on Friday.
After that, Jackson wrote a series of tweets that seemed to suggest she was depressed or upset about something. On Sunday, she wrote about not being able to focus on her studies, a feeling most teenagers have likely experienced. But that tweet was followed by seemingly bleak song lyrics by the Beatles and Zee Avi. “you say i need therapy , well , my darling , so do you . don't need for you to tell me what is wrong in all i say or do,” Jackson tweeted, followed shortly afterwards by lyrics from the Beatles song “Yesterday;” “yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away, now it looks as though they're here to stay.”
On Tuesday, she also wrote “that conversation escalated quickly,” and then an hour later, “I wonder why tears are salty.”
