Paul Rudd Remembers Harold Ramis Ahead Of 'Ghostbusters: Afterlife' Release
Paul Rudd has remembered Harold Ramis, who was part of the original cast of the 1984 movie "Ghostbusters," and looked back to his collab with the late actor on other projects, reported ScreenRant.
The 52-year-old actor told the outlet Monday that he was a huge fan of Ramis growing up because of the sitcom "Second City Television." Rudd also recalled how "nervous" he was when he met Ramis for the first time.
"When I met him for the first time I was pretty nervous," the "Ant-Man" star recalled. "He worked with Judd — we both worked together on Apatow's film 'Knocked Up,' and he played Seth's dad. We didn't have scenes together, but he was around and I met him. I got to know him a little bit."
Rudd also remembered working on "Year One," which Ramis co-wrote and directed. The flick, which came out in 2009, also starred Michael Cera, Jack Black, David Cross, Olivia Wilde and Juno Temple.
"I worked for a day or two on the movie 'Year One' that he directed, and we had done readings together," he added. "I got to spend a little time with him and went out to dinner with him. He was the loveliest man. Really funny, really calm and Buddhist-like."
Rudd went on to praise the late actor, noting that he was not only funny but also very thoughtful and considerate.
"He was very forthcoming in talking about what it was like starting out, talking about Bill Murray and Belushi and working on Second City," he said further. "I really liked him."
Rudd also revealed that his upcoming movie, "Ghostbusters: Afterlife," is making him miss Ramis and said he wishes he could talk to him again.
"Because I was just taken with him. Like I think most people were who got to know him," he concluded.
Ramis died at the age of 69 in 2014 due to vasculitis complications.
"Ghostbusters: Afterlife" is scheduled to hit theaters on Nov. 19. Directed by Jason Reitman, the movie also stars Bill Murray, Mckenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, Dan Aykroyd and Carrie Coon.
Rudd will be next seen in the TV series "The Shrink Next Door." He is currently filming "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania."
