Playboy Names West Virginia University Top Party School In US: See Top 10 In Playboy And The Princeton Review [LIST]
Playboy -- the landmark men’s magazine founded by Hugh Hefner – has released its annual list of the top 10 party schools in the United States. Coming in at No. 1 would be West Virginia University, located in Morgantown.
According to USA Today, it’s the first time that WVU has topped the list, which is in its eighth year of being published in Playboy. The magazine picked WVU thanks to school party staples like FallFest and St. Patrick’s Day.
“At yearly gatherings, thousands of strapping Mountaineers take to the streets to major in booze-fueled debauchery and minor in public disturbance,” Playboy said, according to the Daily Mail. “Intoxicated revelers run wild, clothes come off and sometimes couches burn.”
The University of Wisconsin in Madison came in second due to its annual Halloween parties and tailgaiting, the Daily Mail reports. The University of Colorado in Boulder claimed third place, while the University of Southern California in Los Angeles nabbed the fourth spot due to an event called “Fratty Fridays,” which is an “all-out, all-day affair attended by women who look like models,” the Daily Mail quoted Playboy as saying.
Last year’s No. 1 party school, the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, didn’t even make the top 10 this year.
According to a press release, Playboy “used data from resources including the National Center for Education Statistics, the NCAA, and the U.S. Economic Census, as well as feedback from Playboy's more than 12 million social media fans.”
"Playboy is the ultimate authority on nightlife. And when it comes to partying we are second to none,” Editorial Director Jimmy Jellinek told the Daily Mail. “Our College Party School rankings come out of this deep reservoir of knowledge, and the public can be confident when we say a particular school gets down, we mean it.”
Last month, The Princeton Review also released their annual list of the nation’s top party schools. Only two, WVU and Wisconsin, matched up with Playboy’s list. See both lists below.
