‘Power’ Season 5 Spoilers: Episode 8 Synopsis; ‘A Friend Of The Family’ Promo

There are only a few episodes left until the “Power” Season 5 finale and it looks like Ghost is finally ready to ruin Dre’s life. As he focuses on bringing down his rival, Angela and Tasha try to cover up their bad decisions.

“The AUSA turns up the heat on Ghost (Omari Hardwick) and implicates his inner circle on a RICO,” the synopsis for episode 8, “A Friend of the Family” teases. RICO, also known as the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, is a federal law that prosecutes crimes carried out in a criminal organization and extends punishment to the leader of the syndicate who ordered those crimes.

In the Starz promo, Tameika (Quincy Tyler Bernstine) reveals Angela (Lela Loren) is the last piece to the puzzle. Several members from the AUSA office have been secretly going behind Angela’s back to build a solid case against Ghost. Not only do the lawyers plan to arrest Ghost, but they also intend on destroying Angela’s career in the process.

With Ghost focused on committing a new crime, will he fail to save his loved ones from going down for his mistakes?

“Ghost and Tommy (Joseph Sikora) plan to frame Dre (Rotimi) for the murder of Raymond Jones (Marcus Callender), Raina’s (Donshea Hopkins) killer,” the synopsis for “Power” Season 5, episode 8 says. In the “A Friend of the Family” promo video, Ghost tells Tommy they have to take Dre out.

Eager to finally take out their nemesis, Tommy tells Ghost to let him know when he’s ready to make a move. Although Ghost initially planned to kill Dre, it appears he believes the best choice is to pin Ray Ray’s murder on him in order to protect Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.), who is the real killer.

In the past, Dre has managed to escape Ghost and Tommy’s murder attempts unharmed, but will he be able to beat a murder charge?

“Angela and Tasha (Naturi Naughton) enact a plan of their own,” the synopsis for the Starz series states. Angela has been doing her best to help Tasha cover up Tariq’s connection to the dirty cop’s murder but it appears the women have failed to successfully distance themselves from the investigation.

In the promo video, Angela warns Ghost that the evidence obtained in Ray Ray’s murder will lead back to her, Tasha and Tariq. Will Tasha and Angela be able to save themselves and Tariq from prosecution before it’s too late?

“Power” Season 5, episode 8 airs Sunday at 8 p.m. EDT on Starz.
