  • Aubameyang may wait until next summer to move out of Arsenal
  • Gunners have been urged to keep Aubameyang
  • Aubameyang wants to fulfill Champions League wish

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang remains clueless on what the future hold. Rumors are tying him to a potential move out of Emirates Stadium but it appears Arsenal FC has opted to play the waiting game. To date, no new deal has been offered to the Gabon captain who still has around 13 months left in his current deal.

According to ESPN, no extension to his current deal has been offered by the Gunners. A likely reason for that is because Arsenal is dealing with the financial crunch like other clubs. Several teams expressed interest in the 30-year-old football player but nothing has gone forward. Among those linked to Aubameyang include Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona. With no move from Arsenal, management may have opted to wait and see if any team would come forward and make an offer for the Gabon captain.

Aubameyang has yet to fulfill a dream of playing in the Champions League. And based on the way things are going now over at Arsenal, that will not happen this season. Mikel Arteta has been trying to weave his magic in rebuilding the team although there is no telling when the results of his efforts will show. It is also possible that Aubameyang is waiting for next season to see if the Gunners will do better than this season. As of this writing, the Gunners are 9th place in the Premier League Table. They are just a point behind Tottenham and a point ahead of Burnley.

Unless any team makes an offer, Aubemeyang is likely to stay on at Emirates Stadium next season. And according to retired Liverpool player Jamie Carragher, it may be best for the Gunners to keep Aubameyang for another season and then convince him to sign next season, Sky Sports reported. He is aware that Arsenal may miss the top four, likening it to the time he had when he was still playing for Liverpool.

"It's not easy to find goal scorers. I'd keep Aubameyang and see what you could do. Could you bring players in around that, hopefully, have a successful season and maybe in the next 12 months convince him to stay?" Carragher said.

There is a risk tied to this. Should Aubameyang stay for another year, they could lose him and get practically nothing. Right now, that is likely going on in Arteta's mind. He will have to make a decision -- something that is not yet on the table.
