KEY POINTS

  • Foxes won't deal Chilwell this summer
  • Leicester City aware finding Chilwell replacement will be hard
  • Blues and Red Devils need to focus on other targets with Chilwell unavailable

Chelsea FC and Manchester United are strongly linked to Ben Chilwell but it appears their pursuit will have to wait until next season. Leicester City reportedly has no plans to deal away from the English left-back even if they were offered money roughly around $62.56 million. They believe the 23-year-old is happy playing for The Foxes, meaning the Blues and the Red Devils may have to divert their focus on someone else for now.

Leicester City's stance makes a lot of sense. For one, they are primed to qualify for the Champions League. They are currently at the third spot in the standings, eight points clear of the fifth spot. Ironically, the two teams in pursuit of Chilwell follow them. Chelsea is at fourth while United is in fifth place. If he were to be acquired, it may make no sense to join a team ranked lower than the Foxes.

Further, Leicester City knows it will have a tough time looking for a replacement if Chilwell is dealt away. There are several players available in the market but none may efficiently fill up the void of Chilwell, Sky Sports reported. The Foxes have learned their lesson well with the case of Harry Maguire (last summer) coming to mind.

Despite seeing Chilwell's name in the transfer rumor mill, top management is not fretting about possibly losing the English football player to another team. Chilwell has four years left in his contract and his value is expected to increase in the following years. Rather than deal with the 23-year-old, Leicester is more concerned about finding a suitable backup for him. Christian Fuch's contract will expire at the end of the month and it appears he will be leaving King Power Stadium. That, of course, is subject to change.

As for Chelsea and United, the best recourse is to target someone else on their list. In a previous post, Champions League places of both were already seen as a factor. For the Blues, that would be extra motivation to play harder and move up the ranks. The only problem there is that the Foxes are ahead of them by five points. Though Chelsea could make a run, the fact that they are lower than Leicester City now could factor in. Chilwell knows he is with a team that performed better this season so why transfer? The case gets even worse if the Red Devils situation is to be considered.
