Premier League Rumors: Wolves Considering Transfer Move For Raul Jimenez Replacement, Report Says
KEY POINTS
- Wolverhampton Wanderers are linked to a transfer move for Fortuna Düsseldorf's Kenan Karaman, a report says
- Karaman is viewed as a short-term replacement for Raul Jimenez
- Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo plans to include Jimenez in the active roster soon
Wolverhampton Wanderers may have found a striker to fill the void left by Raul Jimenez.
The Wolves faced one of their biggest obstacles this season after Jimenez fractured his skull due to a clash of heads with Arsenal defender David Luiz during their last meeting. The prolific striker has undergone surgery for the injury and is still out for an indefinite period of time.
Looking to find an immediate solution, the Wolves are now considering a transfer move for Fortuna Düsseldorf star Kenan Karaman, German outlet Fussball Transfers reported. International Business Times could not independently verify this information.
The Turkish striker has been in fine form for the German side this season, making him a suitable “short-term” replacement for Jimenez, the report added. Fortuna Düsseldorf could let Karaman go for free in the summer transfer window and the Wolves reportedly emerged as frontrunners for his signature.
Karaman presents a strong case to fill the void left by Jimenez, but the report also suggested that he might not get much action on the pitch because the club still has Fabio Silva.
The 26-year-old has been instrumental in Fortuna Düsseldorf’s 3-2 win against SV Darmstadt 98 last weekend. Karaman scored a sensational goal and has now improved his tally to three goals in nine second division games.
Jimenez, on the other hand, has already been discharged from the hospital and decided to visit the Wolves training facility this week.
Speaking about his star striker’s visit, Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo insisted that Jimenez has the “desire” to return as soon as possible.
“I don’t think he’s talking (about a return) but I’m sure he is feeling (it),”he told Yahoo Sports of Jimenez. “He has this desire inside him that he wants to return and this is the most important step that he has already made.”
“We will give him time but he wants to return,” he continued. “Raul is a player who must be on the pitch, so talented, so good and very important for us. I know that in his mind is this will to return.”
While Nuno is leaving the decision to Jimenez’s doctors, he also assured that he will include the 29-year-old in the active roster once he thinks he’s good to go.
“It is about the decisions of the doctors that are with him to see if it’s the right moment to do it because, when you attend a match, the emotions are there so it’s about that,” the coach explained. “He saw training so he could easily go to Molineux. Maybe next time I’ll put him on the squad list, this way I can make him go.”
