Prince Charles’ relationship with his sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, was recently compared to the Duke of Cambridge’s relationship with his three kids.

Body language expert Judi James told Express that Prince William is more immersed in Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis’ life much more than Prince Charles was involved in his boys’ lives.

One of the reasons why the heir to the throne’s relationship with his sons was different is because Prince Charles struggled with his marriage with Princess Diana. These marital problems made his body language with Prince William and Prince Harry look more awkward.

“He came from a generation that still often saw child-rearing as the wife’s job and although his wide, open-mouth smiles signaled genuine delight with his boys he did tend to hold them rather awkwardly, suggesting this romping and play wasn’t a regular occurrence,” she said.

In one of the royal family’s photos, Princess Diana is carrying Prince William on her back while Prince Charles is carrying Prince Harry in his arms. According to James, Princess Diana looks more tactile with their children, and she also seems very comfortable to be around them. Prince Charles, on the other hand, sometimes looks distant.

“Although Charles had intellectual pretentious his poses at uni tended to make him look rather solitary and a bit of a dreamer and he was often known to be more comfortable in the company of older, more serious role-models than his peers. His eyes had already acquired that rather sad a doleful expression, suggesting he was his destiny as something sobering and troubling,” James said.

Meanwhile, Prince William is quite relaxed when he is with his three children. This suggests that he is very much involved in the upbringing of Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

While at the Trooping the Colour earlier this year, he was photographed holding the hands of his youngest child. In the snap, he is encouraging Prince Louis to watch the planes.
