Prince Charles has found a bonding moment with his grandson Prince George. The Prince of Wales has recently revealed that he spent some time planting a tree with the toddler and that he would love to pass his love of gardening to Prince William and Kate’s eldest son.

The heir to the throne made the revelation during an interview with BBC Radio 4’s Gardeners' Question Time program, BBC News reported. Prince Charles shared that the two year old royal prince has even helped him plant “a tree or two” by digging up the soil at his home in Gloucestershire. He also mentioned that he would like for Prince George to pick up his interest for gardening.

“You never know, do you, what people are going to be interested in. The most important thing is I got him planting a tree or two here, so we planted it together and shoveled in the earth,” Prince Charles stated.

The Prince of Wales has developed his own passion for gardening over the years. He shared that his interest in the craft started when he looked after a small plot near Constitution Hill. He also learned the finer points in gardening by spending time with his grandmother, The Queen Mother, at Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park, as stated in the same report.

The Prince of Wales even stated that gardening for him has been a “marvelous therapeutic business.” He added that it may be a relaxing and rewarding activity, although, it can also have adverse effects. “You get reward from it but you can also be driven mad by it,” Prince Charles commented.

As for spending time gardening with his grandson Prince George, Prince Charles shared that some of his gardens were redesigned to make it more kid-friendly. He also admitted that he tried to redesign the gardens by trying to understand what would appeal to a child. He even stated that his gardens at Dumfries House have been revamped to include a “fun” maze.

Meanwhile, Prince George recently posed with his great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II, along with his sister Princess Charlotte for the Queen’s special birthday photo. The photo shoot was handled by celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz. Kate Middleton was said to have also taken a few pictures for the family’s personal album.
