Prince Charles may propose major changes for the royal family in the near future.

While speaking with The Sun, Brittani Barger, deputy editor of Royal Central, said that Prince Andrew’s recent scandal has most definitely strengthened Prince Charles’ desire for a slimmed-down monarchy.

Since the Duke of York is now out of the picture, and it is unlikely that he or his two daughters would take on royal duties ever again, the monarchy may eventually only consist of Prince Charles, Prince William, Prince Harry, their wives and their children.

While speaking with Sky News, Labour leader Jeremy Corbin said that the royal family is just too big. At present, it includes all of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip’s four children, their wives and husband and all of their children and grandchildren.

“I do think the question of the size of the family and all that they do, but I do think the public as a whole would want to see those kinds of changes and the debate around the behavior of Prince Andrew has actually brought that to the fore,” he said.

When asked if he thinks the royal family is indeed too big, Corbin said that he thinks there are a lot of people attached to the royal family.

Meanwhile, Barger revealed that the process of slimming down the monarchy has already begun since Prince Charles had been urging the Queen to meet with Prince Andrew and encourage him to step back from his royal duties.

But even before Prince Andrew became embroiled in his recent scandal, there were already reports regarding Prince Charles’ plan to slim down the monarchy. According to royal expert Phil Dampier, the Duke of York believed that there should be a great role for him and his daughters when Prince Philip and Her Majesty dies.

“Andrew is the father of the only to blood princesses of that generation and quite rightfully, he thinks Beatrice and Eugenie have quite a lot to offer,” he said.

However, Prince Charles is strongly opposed to this idea.
