Prince Charles Didn’t Really Like Meghan Markle: ‘Hope Harry Doesn’t Marry Her’
Prince Charles wasn’t impressed with Meghan Markle at first.
The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Sussex seem to have a good connection. The father-in-law and daughter-in-law have been photographed smiling and talking to each other in various engagements. However, the future king wasn’t really that enthusiastic about Markle in the past.
According to Tatler’s May issue, the Prince of Wales had a less-than-ecstatic reaction when he met the former “Suits” star for the first time. The heir had a rather negative reaction after meeting Markle that he reportedly told his friends, “I just hope he [Prince Harry] doesn’t marry her.”
The same report also claimed that Prince Harry had frozen out his childhood best friend Tom “Skippy“ Inskip after he discouraged him from marrying Markle.
Prince Harry and Inskip were very close friends. They used to be inseparable since after meeting each other in Eton, but the royal “banished” his friend from his inner circle in favor of his wife.
The Palace has reportedly addressed the report and denied Tatler’s claims saying it was “patently untrue.” As for Inskip not supporting Prince Harry’s idea of marrying Markle, he was seen arriving at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s wedding venue with his wife Lara.
As for Prince Charles and Markle’s relationship, the in-laws are said to be on good terms. A few weeks back, Markle performed the perfect curtsy when she greeted the Prince of Wales at the traditional Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey. They were also photographed smiling and chatting.
Also, according to reports, Prince Charles is closer to Markle compared to Prince William’s wife Kate Middleton. Lauren Turner of Pop Sugar pointed out the heir was threatened by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
In addition, he felt that he wasn’t given the opportunity to be as close to Prince William and Middleton’s children especially to his first grandchild Prince George, 5. The future king felt that Middleton’s parents Carole and Michael were the favored grandparents.
According to The Sun’s journalist Emily Andrews, Prince Charles used to complain about feeling excluded from Prince George’s life. It was because Michael and Carole were “almost always on hand” while Prince Charles was “cold and distant.”
Royal correspondent Rebecca Perring said that Prince Charles will be a different grandfather to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s child. This is the reason why he is very excited about Prince Harry and Markle’s upcoming baby.
