Prince Charles Should Take ‘Burden’ Of Being King, Not William, Source Says
Prince Charles is next in line to take over the throne. But there are rumors suggesting that he may pass on the important role to his eldest son, Prince William.
During a recent conversation on “Loose Women,” panelists Andrea McLean, Denise Welsh, Nadia Sawalha, and Brenda Edwards talked about the future of the monarchy after Queen Elizabeth II’s death.
Edwards said that she would like to see Prince William succeed his grandmother, while Kate Middleton will become the next Queen. However, Welsh had a different opinion regarding the matter.
She said that Prince Charles should be the one to take the burden of becoming the head of the monarchy. Welsh added that she doesn’t think Prince Charles would want Prince William to be burned by the role this early on because he is married and he also has three children.
“You know, it’s such a responsibility and it’s huge, especially as a young man so I think it should go with tradition and that Charles should,” she said.
“I do think William would thrive at it,” Edwards added.
Meanwhile, royal fans have also expressed their desire to see Prince William as the Queen’s successor. There have also been some speculations suggesting that the Queen might choose between the two male royals who she wants to succeed her.
But Chris Smith, a history teacher, said that Her Majesty doesn’t have the power to choose the person who will succeed her because it is determined by the British parliament and the other parliaments across the globe.
Meanwhile, during the recent episode of “Loose Women,” the panelists also talked about Meghan Markle. Welsh said that she feels sorry for the Duchess of Sussex.
“I don’t know why anyone would want to marry into the royal family. Poor Meghan, I really feel sorry for her, I’m sure she thought it was a great gig at first and now she’s probably regretting it,” she said.
