Prince Harry might be “suffering from irrelevancy” after leaving the royal family with wife Meghan Markle.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced in January that they were stepping back from their royal roles. They immediately flew to Canada after their bombshell announcement.
In March, they returned to the U.K. to carry out their final engagements as working royals. They were last spotted joining Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles, Camilla Parker Bowles, Prince William, Kate Middleton and the rest of the members of the Firm at the Commonwealth Day service. They flew back to Canada again, but recent reports claimed that they already moved to the U.S.
According to royal experts Angela Mollard and Zoe Burrell in the “ROYALS” podcast, it would be difficult for Prince Harry and Markle because they are far from the other royals amid the pandemic. However, things could be worse for Prince William’s brother because he is in a place where he doesn’t have any family member or friends.
Prince Harry and Markle are reportedly living in a secluded place in Los Angeles. They are near Markle’s mom Doria Ragland and the duchess’ friends.
“I very much think that Harry will be suffering from irrelevancy,” Mollard said.
“Right now, the world is not focused on them. He can’t do the work that he wants to do, is separated from his family at a time when the rest of the world is using Zoom or WhatsApp to chat with each other. I can hardly see that happening, he must feel very separate. He doesn’t have friends in LA, she does. She has Doria, she has her family.”
Mollard said that Markle might have also felt the same when she was in the U.K. and away from her family and friends. The Duke of Sussex grew up with his friends and older brother as his support system following the death of his mom, Princess Diana. Thus, being away from them could be “very discombobulating” for the royal.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Markle have just announced their new nonprofit organization Archewell. However, many did not like the timing of the announcement. Mollard said that there are still a lot of things to be discussed and unravelled.
Days after their announcement, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s potential domain was taken over by hackers. They said that they would only surrender the website if Prince Harry comes back to the U.K.
