Prince Harry is thriving after leaving the royal family despite reports alleging that he had asked for an extension to the Megxit deal.

The Duke of Sussex has found his freedom and is feeling more like himself a year after stepping down from his royal duties. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are happy and satisfied with their life in the United States despite claims that he wanted to extend his deal regarding their royal exit, according to a report.

Prince Harry has been "thriving" after relocating to a quieter neighborhood in California, an insider told Us Weekly. The tipster added that the couple had no qualms about their decision to move to the United States and leave the royals behind.

"Harry doesn’t have any regrets about leaving the royal family whatsoever and is really happy in Montecito," the insider said.

"He and Meghan are enjoying their new life in California — being a normal family and having the freedom to make their own decisions without anyone watching over them."

Prince Harry and Markle are focusing their energies on their non-profit organization Archewell. The duke is happy with his life and has become more confident, the source added.

"[He] has grown in confidence since the move. Harry isn’t looking back, although he does miss his friends at home," the source noted.

Another source also told the outlet that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have become closer than ever and they "feel so lucky to have each other" after a tough year. Markle announced in November that she suffered a miscarriage in July.

"2020 was a huge game-changer for Harry and Meghan and it came with its ups and downs — the stress of announcing their departure from the royal family, moving three times, dealing with the pandemic, making huge business decisions, setting up Archewell, coming to terms with the miscarriage," the tipster said.

"It’s brought them closer together and made them a stronger couple.”

Meanwhile, there were claims that Prince Harry wanted to extend his arrangement with Queen Elizabeth II regarding their royal exit. Twitter users were not supportive and wanted the British royal family to just cut off the Sussexes.

Royal biographer Angela Levin, who had closely worked with Prince Harry before, said he had changed and became a "shadow of the prince" she once knew. She also suggested that the request to extend the Megxit deal could be because he "realises that royalty is forever, but celebrity is not."
