Prince Harry, Meghan Markle Don’t Know Their Baby’s Gender For This Reason
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently revealed that they do not know their baby’s gender. However, the reason that they initially gave may not entirely be the whole truth.
While at Birkenhead, Markle told royal fans that she and her husband have opted to wait for their baby’s arrival to know its gender simply because they want to keep the excitement going. But a royal expert has now revealed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are not really allowed to know if they will have a baby boy or a baby girl in the first place.
Victoria Arbiter wrote in 9Honey that the gender of a royal baby is kept a secret because the public should not know it in advance. She also said that it’s a royal philosophy and not because Queen Elizabeth II is rumored to have banned the exercise.
“There’s a belief that there are so few surprises left in life why not save the biggest one for the moment a child is born. This is not just a royal philosophy, many parents across the UK choose not to find out,” she said.
Arbiter also talked about the myths surrounding Markle’s pregnancy. She said that contrary to rumors, Markle is not allowed to hold a baby shower with her closest friends and family. This is because no one knows the baby’s gender beforehand so Britons typically give the new mom and the baby presents after the baby’s birth.
The royal commentator also confirmed that the Queen is still the first person to know the baby’s birth because this comes down to a mark of respect for Her Majesty. But if the “Suits” alum calls her mom, Doria Ragland, first then it wouldn’t also be a problem for the monarch.
Towards the end of her article, Arbiter debunked the rumor that pregnant royal women are not allowed to travel. She said that they actually are and most of them have traveled by plane during their pregnancy.
