Prince Harry-Meghan Markle Update: Prince William Releases Statement On Brother’s New Romance With ‘Suits’ Actress
Prince William is shutting down tabloid rumors claiming he had an issue with his brother, Prince Harry, publicly defending his girlfriend Meghan Markle earlier this month. In a statement, Prince William said he supports his brother and understands why Prince Harry felt compelled to comment on his budding relationship with Markle.
According to USA Today, rumors have been swirling in British media that Prince William disagreed with Prince Harry releasing a statement via Kensington Palace asking the public to give his girlfriend some privacy. The outlet reported that Prince William supposedly felt his sibling’s remarks on the romance went against the royal norms of not commenting on their romantic and private lives.
However, Kensington Palace said in a statement Monday that Prince William had no issue with how his brother handled things. “The Duke of Cambridge absolutely understands the situation concerning privacy and supports the need for Prince Harry to support those closest to him,” the statement, via E! Earlier this month, Kensington Palace released a statement on behalf of Prince Harry confirming that the 32-year-old was dating the “Suits” actress. The statement also lashed out at the media over its intense coverage of the 35-year-old Hollywood star.
“Prince Harry is worried about Ms. Markle’s safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her,” the statement read. “It is not right that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms. Markle should be subjected to such a storm.” The British royal went on to say that he hoped the media coverage of his girlfriend would “pause.”
Although Markle and Prince Harry’s romance has garnered a lot of attention, the love birds apparently aren’t letting that put a damper on their holiday plans. Us Weekly reported that now that Markle has finished filming Season 6 of “Suits,” she plans to spend some time with her royal beau. A source told the publication that after Prince Harry wraps his Caribbean tour on Dec. 4, he and Markle will take a trip together. “It will be a one-week trip,” the source said. “There are just a few details left to finalize.”
