Prince Harry, Meghan Markle Won’t Make Their Baby Wear This Unlike William
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are expected to break tradition when it comes to their firstborn.
William Hanson, a royal etiquette expert, told Heat magazine (via Express) that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex won’t parade their child in shorts just like what Prince William and Kate Middleton did with Prince George.
Hanson said that shorts are deemed to be suburban and Kensington Palace wouldn’t need to send a letter to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge because they already know that it is part of the royal protocol. Young male royals are expected to wear shorts in public. When they are a bit older, they can start wearing pants. But since Markle is an American, she may not be amenable to this British tradition.
“I don’t think that the sartorial rules of shorts of young boys would be a new one for Catherine. Not only does the Duchess of Cambridge have to worry about dressing herself but she has to dress her own children appropriately. She has to find a balance between royal tradition, heritage, and more proletariat customs, such as the ‘suburban’ habit of making young boys wear trousers. I bet her brother James wore shorts as a boy and Sophie Wessex has dressed her son in a similar fashion,” Hanson said.
According to the publication, Markle also wants to normalize breastfeeding by doing it in public. The former actress also wants her husband, Prince Harry, to be seen carrying their baby in public.
There are also some speculations suggesting that Markle is considering home birth in a pool set up in a relaxing environment. If this will be proven to be true, Markle will be the first royal to not give birth at St. Mary’s Hospital’s Lindo Wing following a tradition that was started by Princess Diana.
Middleton gave birth to all of her three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis at the hospital.
