Prince Harry, Meghan May Honor Princess Diana Post-Baby’s Birth By Doing This
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may honor the late Princess Diana following their first child’s birth in the spring of 2019.
Bookies Paddy Power revealed that the name Diana may be given by Prince Harry and Markle to their firstborn if they will have a baby girl. The odds for the name Diana are at 8/1. However, the odds will definitely change as Markle’s due date nears.
Katie Baylis, a spokesperson for Betfair, told Express, “Meghan’s loose coat at Princess Eugenie’s wedding on Friday led to speculation that an announcement was imminent and now that we have it, the royal baby name game starts. At this stage, Diana, Arthur, and Alice, which were favorites at different stages for William and Kate’s babies are the 12/1 frontrunners. However, with months until the baby is born, those odds will shorten, change, and other names will come to the forefront, so watch this space.”
Other possible names for Prince Harry and Markle’s baby are Charles, Edward, or James if it’s a boy and Elizabeth or Victoria if they will be having a baby girl.
Jessica Bridge, a spokesperson for Ladbrokes, said that Markle may also opt to give her baby an American name for the simple reason that she is American.
“With Meghan’s USA roots, it would be remiss of bookmakers to rule out an American moniker featuring somewhere,” she said.
Meanwhile, Andrew Morton previously revealed in “Diana: Her Story – In Her Own Words” that the Princess of Wales didn’t want his sons to have the name Arthur or Albert. Prince Harry may follow in his mom’s footsteps of not giving his son the same moniker.
“The alternative was Arthur or Albert. No thank you. There weren’t fights over it. It was just a fait accompli,” Princess Diana said.
But both names made the cut because Prince William’s full name is William Arthur Philip Louis. Prince Harry’s full name is Henry Charles Albert David.
