  • The Duke and Duchess of Sussex should maintain a healthy balance between making appearances and taking a back seat on their shows, as per celebrity agent Jonathan Shalit

Prince Harry has already returned the amount that was spent for the renovation of Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, England, where he and Meghan Markle lived when they were in the U.K.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced last week that they just signed a deal with Netflix. Following the announcement, the Sussexes's spokesperson confirmed that the duke paid the debt they owed for the Frogmore renovation.

"A contribution has been made to the Sovereign Grant by The Duke of Sussex. This contribution as originally offered by Prince Harry has fully covered the necessary renovation costs of Frogmore Cottage, a property of Her Majesty The Queen, and will remain the UK residence of The Duke and his family," the spokesperson told Entertainment Tonight.

The renovation cost was covered by the Sovereign Grant, the U.K. fund set for the royal family that is largely from the taxpayers. Prince Harry and Markle were very keen with their privacy when they were still working royals.

In fact, they decided to keep Markle's birthing plans when they were expecting Archie a secret. However, several came after them because the people believed the couple owed them updates on their lives as they were full-time working royals. The couple used to be funded by the taxpayers and even the renovation of their home were from the people's taxes.

“They want royal privileges, taxpayers to fork out millions for their cottage renovation, security, pay for them and the baby for life but don’t want to share details until they are ready,” April Marsh wrote on Twitter and encouraged the royal couple to just “fund” themselves if they want to live privately.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex surprisingly announced in January that they were stepping back as senior members of the royal family. They moved to the United States after they carried their final royal engagements and are now staying in their mansion in Montecito.

Prince Harry and Markle are striving in Hollywood and will be making documentaries, feature films, scripted television shows and children's series for Netflix.

Meanwhile, celebrity agent Jonathan Shalit advised the pair to have a "healthy balance" between making appearances and taking a back seat on their shows on Netflix.

Meanwhile, New York media analyst Richard Greenfield believes that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's projects with Netflix is going to be less about them starring and more about them producing and using their global power to attract people to work with them.
