Prince Harry, William Made Progress Toward Ending Feud With Public Reunion, Royal Author Says
KEY POINTS
- Princes Harry and William's reunion at Philip's funeral was a "baby step" in mending their relationship, a royal biographer says

- Whether or not the royal siblings had made progress in healing their rift will "show over time," according to Jobson
Prince Harry and Prince William are inching toward reconciliation, according to a royal author, but there's still a long way to go before they can put their rift behind them.
The Duke of Cambridge and Duke of Sussex reunited for the first time in over a year at Prince Philip's funeral last month. According to royal expert Robert Jobson, author of upcoming book "Prince Philip’s Century 1921-2021: The Extraordinary Life of the Duke of Edinburgh," the siblings' interaction during the service was a sign that they are making progress, but there's a lot of healing left to be done.
"I do think they did actually talk, and if there was a rebuilding of their relationship — well, it was a baby step, and that’s fine," Jobson told Us Weekly Thursday.
"Ultimately, Harry was only there to pay his last respects to his grandfather, who was a great man, and whether or not there was a rebuilding between William and Harry … that’s going to show over time," he added.
During their grandfather's April 17 funeral, Prince Harry was photographed exiting St. George's Chapel together with his brother and sister-in-law Kate Middleton. The royal trio chatted as they walked together following the service.
Aside from their public reunion, Princess Diana and Prince Charles' sons spoke to each other while Prince Harry was in the U.K., an unnamed insider told Us Weekly. However, the insider also said that it will take much more effort to completely end their rift.
"Harry did speak to William while he was in the U.K., so in that respect, they made some progress," the source said. "But they definitely haven’t reached the stage where all is forgiven nor have they buried the hatchet."
An unnamed family friend also had the same opinion when they spoke with People about the royal siblings. The insider said they believe that while their reunion at the funeral was a "good start," their feud has gone on for too long and has too much involved in it for it to be resolved so easily.
"I think it's a good start and it was lovely to see but this whole argument runs so deep, I don't think there is any quick fix," the unnamed source said. "Knowing family, it can mend a bit and then can slip back a bit."
Meanwhile, Prince Harry’s relationship with his dad, Prince Charles, has not improved at all, reports said. The Prince of Wales is reportedly still fuming about Prince Harry's claims about the royal family during his interview with Oprah Winfrey back in March.
