Prince William, Kate Middleton Skipped Prince Charles’ Birthday Gala For This Reason
Prince William and Kate Middleton skipped Prince Charles’ birthday gala at the Royal Opera House in London on Friday night.
According to Harper’s Bazaar, the successful event was not considered a family gathering that’s why the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge weren’t there. Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip weren’t in attendance either. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are on their overseas tour and will return to London on Oct. 31.
Prince Charles’ wife, Camilla Parker Bowles, made it to the event since she was the one that organized it. The grand concert gala featured performers like Judi Dench, as well as dancers from the Royal Ballet.
Royal fans also claimed that Prince William and Middleton weren’t at the gala because they weren’t in London on Friday night. There were some reports claiming that the couple and their three children went to Anmer Hall in Norfolk. A video of the royal couple departing Kensington Palace and heading to a helicopter was also uploaded online.
Prince Charles will celebrate his 70th birthday on Nov. 14, but there has already been a slew of events honoring his special day. Three days after Prince Harry and Markle’s wedding, he hosted a garden party at Buckingham Palace. At that time, the members of Prince Charles’ family were there, except for Prince William and Middleton.
Middleton just gave birth to her child, Prince Louis, at that time, and Prince William was at an engagement in Manchester honoring the bombing victims.
In related news, the Queen is expected to throw her eldest son a massive birthday celebration next month. In September, hundreds of invitations were sent out for the private event. Her Majesty is expected to give a speech at Prince Charles’ party, and she will also be joined by Prince Philip.
ITV will also broadcast a star-studded evening of comedy and magic from the London Palladium to commemorate Prince Charles’ birthday. BBC will also release two documentaries about the Prince of Wales.
