Prince William is not taking over the throne before Prince Charles.

National Enquirer published a report claiming that the Duke of Cambridge has “saved the monarchy.” Prince William will reportedly snatch the throne from his father with the blessing of Queen Elizabeth II.

“Now, Charles, Prince Harry and his American-born wife, Meghan, have officially been declared threats to the Crown, and moves are being made to strip them of their titles,” the report read.

The magazine’s unnamed source went on to say that “Her Majesty intends to abdicate before year’s end,” and she will be making a “bold move” by picking her grandson, Prince William, to take over instead of the apparent heir.

The report about Prince William taking over the throne from the Prince of Wales isn’t new at all. Previous polls revealed that the Brits prefer the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge over Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles triggering the reports that Prince William will be the next king and not his father.

However, one should take those reports with a grain of salt. According to a report from Reader’s Digest, there is no way that Prince William will be king before Prince Charles.

“Even if the Queen wanted to change her successor, she doesn’t have the power to do so,” Claire Nowak wrote. “It’s against the law, specifically the 1701 Act of Settlement, which requires that a monarch’s heir must be a direct successor and a Protestant. Prince Charles fits the bill on both accounts.”

Nowak added that at the present Prince Charles is the most qualified member of the royal family to become the next king. He has been the heir apparent since he was 4 and has been trained to take over the throne his whole life.

Prince Charles and Princess Anne attend more royal engagements than anyone else in the royal family. Also, not even his marriage with Camilla could work against him in becoming the next monarch.

Meanwhile, Gil Knappet, author of “Charles, Prince of Wales” also revealed that Prince William has no plans to skip his father in the line of succession.

“Although like his father, William will be destined to have a far shorter reign than his grandmother, he has said he has no desire to 'climb the ladder of kingship' before his time,” Knappet explained.
