- Prince William's answers about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were locked and loaded
- Prince William said that taking a step back is important
Prince William made his first public appearance after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced that they are stepping back from their royal roles this week.
The Duke of Cambridge was joined by Kate Middleton in West Yorkshire City, where he gave a speech in front of the crowds. Shortly after, royal editor Russell Myers talked about the dad of three.
On “Pod Save the Queen,” Myers said that it was evident that Prince William prepared for awkward questions about Prince Harry and Markle before his outing.
“It was put to me that William had an answer locked and loaded, ready if someone in the crowd had ambushed him with a question. They were well-prepared but he didn’t have to use it,” he said.
In his speech, the dad of three talked about cohesion within the family and said that it is sometimes necessary to take a step back. Myers said that Prince William’s words were obviously in reference to the tumultuous events faced by the royal family.
“It’s sometimes trying to get people to understand that it’s OK to have these challenges. We just need to deal with them and we need to move forward rather than just be stuck in paralysis,” Prince William said.
Meanwhile, one of Prince William’s close friends also shared the future king’s thoughts on Prince Harry and Markle’s exit. Middleton’s husband reportedly said that he wrapped his arm around his younger brother all his life but he could no longer do the same thing for him.
At the end of the day, Prince William supports Prince Harry and Markle’s decision even though he was initially upset by it.
However, if the Duke of Sussex didn’t quit his royal role, he would’ve been Prince William’s secret weapon. The royal siblings would have also worked shoulder to shoulder, and Prince Harry would’ve picked up on the things that his brother isn’t good for.
