Princess Diana Escorted Away From Polo Match In 1981 For This Heartbreaking Reason
Princess Diana was once escorted away from a polo match in 1981 possibly due to a heartbreaking reason.
In an unearthed video uploaded on Instagram, the Princess of Wales is sitting on stage with a group of guests. A palace staff approaches her and escorts her out of the venue.
The mom of two grabs her jacket before joining the unnamed staff. The woman wraps her arm around Princess Diana in a gesture that looks as though she was trying to comfort her.
Details about the incident have not been revealed other than the fact that it was taken in 1981. This means that the clip was shot months before Princess Diana wed Prince Charles.
But on Instagram, royal fans shared their thoughts on why they think Prince William and Prince Harry’s mom was escorted away from the polo match.
“It was 1981, before her wedding. So, she wasn’t pregnant… She was totally overwhelmed by the stress the paparazzi put on her… Poor thing… She was truly hunted by the press from day 1,” one fan wrote.
“Just prior to the wedding, we were told the unceasing press intrusion was too much. But within hindsight, we know she’d found out about Mrs. Parker Bowles… So sad,” another person wrote.
Meanwhile, Princess Diana also made headlines this week after it was reported that she once felt excluded at Prince William’s christening. In the book “Diana: Her True Story – In Her Own Words,” royal author Andrew Morton detailed the conversation he had with the late royal.
Princess Diana told Morton that the time that the royal family chose for Prince William’s christening couldn’t have been more unsuitable for her baby. She also said that endless photos were taken of the other members of the royal family excluding herself at the event.
“I felt desperate because I had literally just given birth – William was only 6 weeks old. And it was all decided around me… Hence the ghastly pictures,” she said.
