Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra are officially parents.
Chopra, 39, and Jonas, 29, welcomed their first baby via surrogate on Jan. 15. The celebrity couple shared the happy news on Instagram Friday.
"We are overjoyed to confirm that we have welcomed a baby via surrogate," read the statement shared on both of their Instagram accounts. "We respectfully ask for privacy during this special time as we focus on our family. Thank you so much."
The couple did not reveal the name or sex of their newborn, but People and Page Six reported that they welcomed a daughter.
Chopra and Jonas received thousands of congratulatory messages from friends and fans over the new addition to their family.
"AYE!!!!!!!! Can’t wait to cuddle them!!!" host and YouTube personality Lilly Singh commented.
"Congratulations! Kalpen uncle is ready to babysit!" Kal Penn wrote.
"Congratulations @priyankachopra @nickjonas… best news ever!!!" actress and model Neha Dhupia wrote.
"So wonderful! The family grows!!" Maneesh K. Goyal commented.
"Amazing dude!! Congratulations to you and the lovely wife," Randall Slavin wrote, while Avo commented: "I'M AN UNCLE Y'ALL!"
The announcement came just a week after Chopra discussed her and Jonas' desire to expand their family in an interview with Vanity Fair.
"They're a big part of our desire for the future," she said. "By God's grace, when it happens, it happens."
The "Quantico" actress and the Jonas Brothers musician have been married for three years. They tied the knot in 2018 in two glamorous ceremonies at the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, India, in front of 225 guests.
Chopra also previously indicated her desire to have children back in March 2020, sharing that although she had a "packed" schedule, having a family is "very important" to her.
"It is something that I definitely want to do and I'm hoping that whenever God wills it, at the right, opportune time, it'll happen," she told Tatler magazine at the time.
Late last year, the couple sparked split rumors after Chopra decided to remove her husband's last name from her Instagram profile. However, the actress recently shut down those rumors during her interview with Vanity Fair.
"It’s a very vulnerable feeling, actually, that if I post a picture, everything that’s behind me in that picture is going to be zoomed in on, and people are going to speculate," Chopra said. "It’s just a professional hazard…. Because of the noise of social media, because of the prevalence that it has in our lives, I think it seems a lot larger than it is. I think that we give it a lot more credence in real life, and I don’t think it needs that."
She added that they "set real boundaries" when it comes to their personal lives and privacy. They wanted to "create that little safe haven for ourselves with our friends and family."
Jonas and Chopra's newborn joins a trio of cousins, including Kevin Jonas' daughters Valentina Angelina, 5, and Alena Rose, 7, as well as Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner's baby girl Willa, 1, whom they welcomed in July 2020.
