Queen Elizabeth II’s Throwback Photos Show How Much Her Style Has Evolved
Queen Elizabeth II has always been one of the most stylish royals in history, and her style has evolved in recent years.
Town & Country compiled some of Her Majesty’s throwback photos that showcase just how glamorous she has always looked ever since she was young.
When she was a teenager, the Queen wore a patterned dress while posing for photographs. In 1943, she was photographed wearing a Girl Guide uniform. The black and white snap shows the Queen looking fashionable despite not looking straight into the camera.
The monarch also looked stunning in her colored photographed taken at the Buckingham Palace when she got engaged to Prince Philip. The Queen wore a pink dress with intricate details, and her hair was kept in place by her side clips.
Years after they tied the knot, the Queen was photographed leaving a banquet during their 1954 tour of Australia. She was seen wearing a white lace dress, a fur wrap, and a tiara for the occasion. In the same year, the Queen once again looked chic in her emerald dress and white gloves. She was photographed in the attire while standing on the balcony of Melbourne’s Government House.
Four years later, the Queen arrived at a formal event during her tour of the Netherlands. She wore a navy dress and a fur wrap to the occasion. In 1975, the monarch wore a yellow polka-dot dress and matching head wrap during her state visit to Mexico. While there, she was also photographed wearing a knee-high printed skirt while visiting the ancient ruins.
In one rare occasion, the was photographed wearing trousers when she went on a Safari in Zambia. She once again wore pants in 1988 when she attended the Windsor Horse Show.
Throughout the past couple of years, the Queen has been quite predictable with her clothes. When she attends public engagements, she is typically photographed with her skirt, suit, hat, and handbag. The Queen goes for bold colors to make sure that everyone can see her even from a distance.
In the documentary “The Queen at 90,” Sophie, Countess of Wessex said (via Town & Country), “She needs to stand out for people to be able to say ‘I saw the Queen.’”
