Queen Elizabeth Outranked By Michelle Obama In Most Admired List
Queen Elizabeth II was outranked by Michelle Obama.
Queen Elizabeth II and Michelle are friends. The two leaders have already met several times. They met in 2009 where they reportedly hugged. They saw each other again in 2016 when Michelle and Barack Obama visited the Queen.
In YouGove’s annual survey, Michelle topped the list of the most admired woman in the world. Queen Elizabeth II landed in fifth place, Express reported.
Michelle took the top spot from Angelina Jolie, who fell to third place behind Oprah Winfrey. Meanwhile, the current first lady of the United States also made it into the list. Melania Trump placed 19 out of 20.
“I admire Michelle Obama for many reasons. I fell in love with her when pictures were released of her shopping in Target as First Lady. That is when I knew she is one of us,” one responder said.
“No surprise that she is the most admired woman in the world!” another said.
Michelle disclosed some details of her encounter with the monarch three years ago in her explosive memoir “Becoming.” According to her, she was surprised when they met because the Queen was less formal than she expected her to be.
According to her, prior to meeting the Queen, they were briefed about their seating arrangement. She was told to sit in the front with Prince Philip. Barack was supposed to sit next to Queen Elizabeth II in the backseat. However, upon arrival, the Queen gestured Michelle to join her in the backseat.
“I froze, trying to remember if anyone had prepared me for this scenario, whether it was more polite to go along with it or to insist that Barack take his proper seat by her side,” she recalled.
“The Queen immediately picked up on my hesitations and was having none of it. Did they give you some rule about this?’ she said, dismissing all the fuss with a wave of her hand. That’s rubbish. Sit wherever you want.”
In related news, Queen Elizabeth II just gave Prince Harry and Meghan Markle a prime suite at the Buckingham Palace as their new office. However, the royal staff was grumpy with the monarch’s decision because they believed that there were adequate offices at Kensington Palace that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex abandoned after they decided to split their household and office from Prince William and Kate Middleton.
