Queen Elizabeth, Princess Diana Get Along Well, Share A Good Laugh In Photo
Queen Elizabeth II once shared a good laugh with Princess Diana.
In the throwback photo uploaded by a royal fan on Instagram, the two female royals are seen laughing together. Princess Diana is standing a few inches behind Her Majesty, and she’s smiling from ear to ear. The mom of two is also wearing a white and blue sailor-inspired blouse.
The monarch, on the other hand, is wearing a blue and white polka dot dress, which she accentuated with three gold pearls. Just like Princess Diana, the Queen is also smiling from ear to ear.
However, it is important to note that Princess Diana and the Queen are looking at different directions. As such, it is possible that they didn’t make each other laugh. Rather, they heard something that amused them and made them break into laughter.
Princess Diana and the Queen had a unique relationship when the former was still alive. According to royal commentator Ingrid Seward, the two female royals were each other’s salvation.
In “The Queen and Di,” she said that Princess Diana was able to warm the otherwise cold and even weird image of the royal family when she held a sick orphan and wore a stunning gown. The Queen, on the other hand, gave the Princess of Wales a chance to find the home life she had been missing.
However, Princess Diana’s psychological problems and Her Majesty’s rigid sense of protocol and propriety, later on, undermined their relationship. Following Princess Diana’s accident, the Queen and Prince Charles were the first two people to get an update from Paris. But they were initially told that Dodi Al Fayed died and Princess Diana survived.
Minutes later, the Queen and Prince Charles were told that Princess Diana died, and the former was stunned. Seward said that while others in the royal family have already given up on Princess Diana, the Queen had retained some affection for her daughter-in-law.
