Rachel Roy Responds To Beyoncé Fans Attacking Her Over ‘Lemonade,’ Says She Respects Marriages
Rachel Roy has finally broken her silence about rumors that she’s “Becky with the good hair,” aka the woman Jay Z supposedly cheated on Beyoncé with. Roy found herself being attacked by the BeyHive — what Beyoncé fans call themselves — Sunday morning after she posted a cryptic Instagram photo seemingly taking a jab at the “Formation” singer and her marriage troubles.
Roy, 42, took to Twitter to write that she respects “love, marriages, families and strength” and doesn’t appreciate being bullied. See her full post below.
The fashion designer’s comment came after she made her Instagram account private in attempt to stop fans from flooding the comments section with insults and emoji of lemons and bees. As previously reported, Roy angered the BeyHive after she posted a picture with the caption: “Good hair don’t care, but we will take good lighting, for selfies, or self truths, always. Live in the light #nodramaqueens.”
It was speculated that her Instagram post, which has since been deleted, was referring to Beyoncé alluding during her “Lemonade” HBO special that Jay Z had been unfaithful with a woman dubbed “Becky with the good hair.”
In addition to Roy being attacked on social media, Cosmopolitan reported that fans also hacked her Wikipedia page several times and changed her name to things such as “Rachel Rat,” “Rachel Side H--Roy” and “Rachel ‘Becky with the good hair’ Roy.” The hacked Wikipedia page also included a fake “death date” listing that she died “under a Lemonade stand.”
This isn’t the first time Roy has been accused of being Jay Z’s rumored mistress. In 2014, it was reported that her and Jay Z getting a little too close at a Met Gala after-party is what caused his elevator fight with Solange. “At the gala, Rachel was being flirtatious with Jay,” a source told E! Online at the time. “Once everyone was at the Boom Boom Room for the after-party, her flirtations were elevated.”
