Is 'The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills' On A Break? Cast Confirms COVID Results
Reality TV just got a little too real for the cast of Bravo's “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.” Season 11 of the series has been put on pause after some members of the cast and crew tested positive for the coronavirus.
Kyle Richards, one of the OG stars, announced over the weekend that she and her adult daughter, Sophia Umansky, tested positive for COVID-19. She shared the news on Instagram in a caption on her family’s holiday picture.
"Some of you may have heard I have COVID. I got it after these photos were taken. Since I was diagnosed I have been separated from my family in order to keep them healthy. Unfortunately, Sophia also got it. We will stay in isolation until it's safe to see the family and others again. I can't wait to hug them,” Richards wrote.
Production had to stop on the series in order to curb the spread of the virus, a network source told The Hollywood Reporter.
Richards is not alone in her COVID-19 battle. TMZ reports Dorit Kemsley and Kathy Hilton have contracted the virus. Some of the show's crew members also tested positive fellow lead Garcelle Beauvais explained on "The Real.”
Beauvais said that everyone in the cast and the crew is completing a mandatory 14-day quarantine before any more filming takes place. Up until this point, the production team has been doing everything they could to keep everyone safe.
“We’ve done the right thing, we get tested so many times... We do all the protocols. We get tested at least three times a week, we get tested before we shoot, my kids get tested, I get tested — anybody who’s in my household. And you know, we did the right things,” Beauvais said. “But at the same time, it just shows you that this virus, you can touch something. You know, it's not necessarily just from people.”
Almost 85% of the state of California is under COVID-19 restrictions until after the Christmas holiday. Cases have surged throughout the state in recent weeks and stay-at-home orders have been put in place for those who live in Southern California and San Joaquin Valley, according to NPR.
This new season of “RHOBH” will feature Beauvais, Hilton, Kemsley, Richards, Lisa Rinna, Erika Girardi, Sutton Stracke, and Crystal Kung Minkoff.
Season 11 of “RHOBH” is expected to air on Bravo in 2021, People reports.
