Reality Behind Matt Damon's Involvement In Ben Affleck, Shauna Sexton Split
Matt Damon did not convince Ben Affleck to dump Shauna Sexton, despite rumors. Gossip Cop debunked reports that stated Damon wanted Affleck to get healthier without Sexton and hence convinced him to leave her.
According to Radar Online, Affleck “came to his senses and dumped” the 22-year-old model after a “long chat with Matt.” Matt also reportedly questioned Affleck’s sensitivity around Jennifer Garner for taking Sexton to the Montana home he shares with his ex-wife.
The website quoted an insider saying, “Ben’s friends were blown away that he would have the nerve to take a 22-year-old Playmate, who’s just a fling, to his newly ex-wife’s house where his kids sleep! They thought it was really gross, and let him have it.”
“It finally registered with Ben that what he did was wrong,” the alleged source said adding the relationship had ended as soon as they got back from Montana.
The website also quoted another insider saying Sexton is desperate to get back to Affleck: “She is pissed off and has basically told him ‘Why do you care what Jen says? You’re divorced. He told her it’s his family. And they had a huge fight. Basically, Shauna’s communicating with him and reaching out — but it’s one-sided. Ben’s more worried about Jennifer, and that he is in trouble with his kids.”
Gossip Cop contacted Damon’s camp who denied all claims by calling them totally untrue.
In August, Gossip Cop had debunked another report in the magazine that falsely claimed that Affleck and Damon are no longer friends. The website claimed Damon dumped Affleck after he checked into rehab. It further claimed the pair’s “relationship had deteriorated” amid Affleck’s issues with sobriety and Damon will “not be by his side” anymore.
In August, People reported that Damon continued to be a big part of Affleck’s support system at the rehab and “has and will always be there for Ben.”
The website quoted an insider saying, “They have been friends for years. Let’s remember that they each have their own families and careers to deal with.”
In an interview with Barbara Walters in 2012, Affleck credited Damon as one of the people who helped him get through his battles with addiction.
“I had good friends. I had Matt Damon, I had my brother, and I had a nucleus of good friends that I grew up with and I had support from,” he said.
E! News published an article dedicated to their friendship in December last year. The report said in 1997, the two made a small indie movie about an MIT janitor which won them two academy awards. Since then, they have been inextricably linked to each other professionally.
The two are now teaming up for a true-crime movie about an ex-cop who rigged McDonald’s Monopoly game. Affleck would direct the movie which will star Damon.
